Author releases third book on life, love and loss Arts and Entertainment By Mike Burgess

Jan 31, 2012
Caledonia author Tracey Jones has finished her much-anticipated third book of poetry. As with previous works, "Cry No More" and "Pieces Of My Heart", her newest title, "River Of Life" speaks to life, love and loss and is dedicated to her grandmother who passed away this past August.
"It has been an extreme pleasure to work with this talented and dedicated author," said PublishAmerica.com public relations director Shawn Street.
Nominated for the 2008 Attorney General's Victim Services Award of Distinction for her first book of poetry, "Cry No More" has been used as a tool by the R.C.M.P. in sensitivity training within their ranks. The book is based on her many years of silent suffering and ultimate disclosure of tortuous childhood verbal, physical, emotional and sexual abuse at the hands of her father.
Much of the available data in Canada consistently show that only 1 in 10 cases of sexual assault of a child ever gets reported to the police, a fact that Jones clearly hopes to change.
Through her series, Jones not only encourages people to come forward but also demonstrates that there is a bright future full of hope for victims.
"My second title, Pieces of My Heart, brings the readers into my new life, as does my newest title River of Life," she explained.
In her book Cry No More, a poem "My Angel, My Hero" pays tribute to the initial police officer she disclosed the abuse to and how he helped her cope in such a kind and caring way.
Recognizing the time and energy she spends on her projects, she is also grateful to those most important in her life.
"I would like to thank my husband, Trevor, and my children, Coral and Damian, for being so supportive of my dream."
Speaking on future plans, Jones said "I have a few projects on the go and hope to try my hand at a novel this year."
Her books are available through www.publishamerica.com and www.amazon.com, and are also available to borrow from Haldimand County Public Libraries.
